Therapy for Men
Regardless of if your goal is to increase understanding and acceptance of your experiences or to mainly have a space for your thoughts, my goal is to provide you support on that journey.
Over time, the acknowledgement of mental health has increased and now men have more options than to just “suck it up” or “be a man”. Society has many believing that anger is the only acceptable emotion to have, and this becomes an even more complicated factor for men of color. Given the safety and space to process, therapy is not only a place where it is ‘OK’ to cry, but rather encouraged along with other expressions and experiences of emotion. Societal expectations have left us feeling forced to internalize and criticize what we feel, while still being expected to maintain the status quo.
However, if you didn’t know, you are human like the rest of us.
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Therapy provides you with a non-judgmental space that allows you to experience authentic vulnerability and increase acceptance for the complexity of your life. Therapy provides you chance to learn about yourself and a space to learn what works for you to maintain the mental side of yourhealth.
